DA Theatre Brings Home "Spotlight" Awards
Our school's spring production of "The Addams Family" was a winner in last weekend's "Spotlight Awards," formerly known as the Nashville High School Musical Theatre Awards. The awards event is hosted by Lipscomb University and TPAC.
Thirty Middle Tennessee high schools competed in 27 categories and DA competed in four: Best Set Design, Best Costumes, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Overall Design Concept. DA scored high enough to make the Top Ten, giving our students the opportunity to perform on stage at TPAC's Jackson Hall.
Alexandra Chopson won "Best Supporting Actress" for her performance as Wednesday Addams. Director and theatre teacher Tony Morton won "Best Overall Design Concept," an award he also won in 2015 for DA's production of "Into the Woods." Will Farris and Zach Moore were named to the All-Star Crew. Talon David (Morticia Addams) and Evan Wellbrock (Gomez) were named to the All-Star Cast. This marked the third "All-Star Cast" designation
for Talon.
Congrats to our incredibly talented students and to Mr. Morton and Mr. Bob Campbell for leading them so well.
