Two Qualify for State Golf Tournament
Lincoln Haymaker (10th) and Hannah Horton (8th) both qualified at Monday's regional golf match and will advance as
individuals for state play next week.
On a rain-soaked course at Riverbend Country Club in Shelbyville, the team, which consists of many young players, rose to the challenge playing their best 18-hole tournament of the season.
Horton finished 5th overall in a field of seasoned veterans.
"Hannah continues to develop as one of the best young players in our region each and every time she steps on the course," said head coach Roger Farmer.
The Lady Bears narrowly missed a third-place team finish, which would have advanced them as a team to the state. Sophomore Audrey Vandlen, who has only being playing for six months, posted her best 18-hole score of the season, as well.
"I'm so proud of all these student athletes. Their dedication, their work ethic, their walk with Christ, and the bond they share as a team is contagious and has impressed everyone they come in contact with, and I'm proud of them!"
